In addition to the condition above, in your eye, the abnormal blood vessels from wet macular degeneration have caused bleeding under or within the retina. The blood can be toxic to the retina and damage the cells that see light. The bleeding causes a dark spot in or close to the center of the vision. Treatment may involve injections in the eye as noted above, or in some cases, your Retina specialist may recommend surgery to displace the blood away from the center of the retina. This is performed with a surgery called vitrectomy.
While treatment can help improve the vision and the dark spot may become smaller, there can be a scar or atrophy resulting from the intial bleeding, which can continue to limit your vision and result in a missing spot in the vision.

Además de la afección mencionada anteriormente, en el ojo, los vasos sanguíneos anormales de la degeneración macular húmeda han provocado sangrado debajo o dentro de la retina.
